Paul Cauhaupe won the first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race of the Zandvoort weekend on 22 August. The young French driver moved into the lead during the third lap and earned his first victory in the series.
Jaap van Lagen finished second, so the Martinet by Almeras team took the first two places. Championship leader Flynt Schuring finished third and increased his advantage.
Cauhaupe took the lead on lap three
Wouter Boerekamps started from pole and led the opening laps. Van Lagen followed closely, while Cauhaupe held a position behind the two Dutch drivers. The order changed when Boerekamps and van Lagen made contact and moved away from the fastest line. Cauhaupe reacted immediately, passed both cars and became the new leader. The chance appeared during the incident, and he used it without making contact.
Boerekamps later stopped for a tyre change. He set the fastest lap after returning to the track, but the stop dropped him to the middle of the race order. His speed in qualifying did not produce a strong race result.
Cauhaupe kept the lead to the finish
Once ahead, Cauhaupe had to avoid the mistakes made by the earlier leaders. The long banked corners at Zandvoort put heavy pressure on the tyres. A slide in one corner can quickly reduce grip. Van Lagen remained close behind his teammate. Cauhaupe needed to leave the final corners cleanly because the main straight offers the best chance to pass. A mistake there would have helped van Lagen approach before the first corner.
Cauhaupe completed the remaining laps without losing the lead. His calm driving after the decisive overtake gave him the victory.

Cauhaupe and van Lagen finished first and second
First and second place showed that both team cars worked well in the same track conditions. Cauhaupe and van Lagen also avoided a risky battle on track that could have cost them the podium. The engineers received useful information from both cars. They could compare braking, tyre wear and the speed of each car before the second race. There was little time to make major changes between the two events.
Dutch fans saw Van Lagen finish second at his home event. He remained near the front after the contact and completed the race in second position.
| Place | Race driver | Race result |
|---|---|---|
| First place | Paul Cauhaupe | First Supercup victory |
| Second place | Jaap van Lagen | Finished second in the Porsche race |
| Third place | Flynt Schuring | Larger championship lead |
Schuring increased his championship lead
Schuring finished third for Schumacher CLRT. He avoided the risky moves made by several drivers around him. The podium gave him important championship points while some rivals lost time after contact or repairs. Marcus Amand’s car was damaged in a collision. He entered the pits but could not continue. Schuring completed the race without trouble and increased his championship lead.
A driver fighting for the championship must choose risks carefully. Finishing third was better than making an attack that could end his race. Schuring left the first event with a bigger lead.
Cauhaupe became the fifth winner of the season
Cauhaupe became the fifth winner of the Porsche Supercup season. Several teams and young drivers have now shown that they can compete near the front.

A second race took place at Zandvoort on Sunday. Flynt Schuring won it and secured the 2026 championship before the final event of the season. Cauhaupe’s Saturday victory remained an important personal result.
Cauhaupe entered the Sunday race as a Supercup winner for the first time. He had earned that status by reacting quickly on lap three and then leading every remaining lap on Saturday.
Cauhaupe stayed calm after the restart
The other cars caught up to Cauhaupe behind the Safety Car, but he did not change his approach. He prepared his tyres and accelerated at the correct moment. Van Lagen could not move close enough to attempt an overtake. The victory also showed how quickly a young driver can react to an unexpected chance. Cauhaupe did not begin the decisive lap in first place. He watched the two cars in front, found open space and passed both cars without making contact. That decision gave him control of the race.
Schuring’s Sunday victory and championship title became the main result of the weekend, but they did not reduce the value of Cauhaupe’s result. The French racer earned his first series win through good timing, steady pace and a clean restart.
